We have an opportunity for a Senior Social Worker in our LAC Project Team.

The LAC Project Team was established in July 2002, with a particular emphasis on countering delay and drift in permanency planning and promoting good outcomes for children.

The LAC Project Team's initial remit was to prioritise and target difficult to place looked after children who were seen to be experiencing delay, such as: children aged between 3-10 years, black and minority ethnic children and dual heritage children, children in adoptive placements whose adoption applications were not being achieved within reasonable timeframes and children in sibling groups, amongst others.

Over the past five years the team has expanded its work to include inter-country adoption, step-parent adoption and relinquished babies, special guardianship orders and long term fostering.

You will take on a varied and complex caseload as well as be available to assist the social worker team and deputise for the assistant team manager where required. The work of the team encompasses such things as: direct work with children and families, life story work, sibling attachment, assessment of children's needs, timely adoption applications, court reports, promoting permanency planning.

The team is based centrally in the Civic Centre and comprises four social workers, an ATM and team support.
